It's sooo much more than, "just the song", it's the little parts that become the "soundtrack of our lives" as Neil puts it. Going on vacation or to an event is to, "make some memories". And thus, leaving a mess behind has always become synonymous with that phrase, even even the non-physical "messes". On the album cover they have a tiny drawing of the band in a car and litter (beer can?) being thrown out as the head down the road.as they are making memories.behind us you will only see our dust. The other day we were stuck in traffic and I was whining when a hot babe pulled up next to his side, and he said, "oh, I don't know, maybe road life's not so bad." My best friend and lifelong Rush compadre and I have always "song talked" and work lyrics into songs as a part of everyday humor, and also as a sort of reminder of old times and rush inspirations.
